Today marks 30 years since our founder, the late Mr. Dilip D. Khatau, and chairperson, Mrs. Rina D. Khatau, established The Corbett Foundation with the vision to conserve, protect, and preserve wildlife and its habitats, tackling the challenges of human-wildlife conflict in and around Corbett National Park. This journey has been both challenging and rewarding, leading TCF to its current presence in nine conservation landscapes across six Indian states, working to protect some of the country's most threatened species. We are proud to partner with state forest departments in each landscape and are grateful for the collaborations with local stakeholders. Our achievements over the past three decades have been made possible by the support and trust of our partners, donors, and collaborators. As we celebrate 30 years of impactful work, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has played a role in our journey and contributed to The Corbett Foundation's critical efforts. Looking ahead, we are inspired to continue our mission and explore new horizons in wildlife conservation. #HappyEarthDay #WildlifeConservation #LandscapeConservation #CommunityEmpowerment #OneHealth Kedar Gore Dr Devesh Gadhavi Dr. Harendra Singh Bargali Naveen Pandey

Expressing environmental optimism before the Lok Sabha elections 2024... With elections round the corner, it would be really interesting to see which candidate or political party includes anything really specific about protecting India's natural ecosystems, and not equate development by destruction of these lifelines. Sharing my wishlist as a conservationist and nature lover #voter of #India. 1. The Article 51-A (g) of the #Constitution of India clearly states that “It shall be duty of every citizen of India to protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers and wild life and to have compassion for living creatures.” The political parties who strive to form the government in India, should take decisions and lay down policies that abide by this fundamental duty in letter and in spirit. 2. There should be a zero-tolerance policy towards any kind environmental destruction. Announcing developmental projects in the election manifesto must be carefully vetted for their negative effects on India's precious biodiversity and wilderness habitats. Biodiversity and habitat loss is often irreversible and can have detrimental effects on the region's groundwater, rainfall pattern, hydrology of rivers, agriculture and overall livelihoods of people, in addition to driving several species towards extinction. 3. I would love to see political parties plan meticulously to prevent water misuse in cities, effective waste management in smaller towns and villages, avoid projects that need wide-scale reclaiming of mountains, wetlands, mangroves and coastline, retain and create more open green spaces in urban areas for recreational and ecological needs, and ensure wildlife habitat connectivity is maintained across India. 4. Wetlands, grasslands and deserts need to be recognised as important and unique ecosystems and not as 'wastelands'. We need policies to ensure these natural areas are preserved for posterity. 5. And last but not the least, ecologically destructive projects should have no place in modern India. In our quest to balance development with environment, we have more than often seen the imbalance tilted in favour of environmental destruction. This should be unacceptable to all Indians and the protection of environment and nature must be treated at par with national security. https://lnkd.in/dc9Jj_uS Naveen Pandey Dr Devesh Gadhavi Dr. Harendra Singh Bargali Nirmal Ghosh Ranjeet Jadhav Virat Singh Mrityunjay Bose Dipti Singh Mid-Day BOMBAY NATURAL HISTORY SOCIETY Yashvardhan Dalmia MoEF&CC Bittu Sahgal Sanctuary Asia #electionmanifesto #democracy #Bharat #ModernIndia #nature #environment

Forest fires are one of the grave threats to deciduous forests in India. As per the Forest Survey of India, around 54% of India's forests are prone to forest fires. Such fires are mostly accidental in origin, but deliberately lit forest fires aren't uncommonly. The forest departments spend significant efforts and resources to douse these fires, which spread very fast due to dry vegetation and undergrowth adversely affecting the soil microbes, insects and many otger life forms that are tge buidking blocks of a functional ecosystem. As the dry season begins, The Corbett Foundation, with the support of #PwC India Foundation, provided leaf blowers to 4 ranges of #Kanha Tiger Reserve. These leaf blowers will help contain the forest fires and prevent its spreading. We also provided fuel for operating these leaf blowers along with a training session of its operation. We are glad to hand over this equipment to Shri. S. K. Singh, Field Director of Kanha Tiger in the presence of Shri. Naresh Yadav, Jt. Director, Shri. Punit Goel, Deputy Director (Core), Range Officers, and other frontline personnel of Kanha Tiger Reserve. Our gratitude to PwC India Foundation for this valuable support that would go a long way in conservation of Kanha's forest and its fauna-flora 💚 Jaivir Singh Neetika Goyal Punyasil Yonzon Zumur Taha Nirmal Ghosh Naveen Pandey Dr Devesh Gadhavi Dr. Harendra Singh Bargali MoEF&CC Bittu Sahgal CSRBOX INDIAdonates- an initiative of DevPro #preventforestfires #widlifeconservation #savetigers #csrinitiatives #csr #kanhatigerreserve
